I am pleased to inform all that Peru was in first place in the recent edition of the Ibero-American Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) held in Queretaro, Mexico. It is very important to have achieved this goal after several years, and notice how it was achieving this result gradually: in IOM, 2006 held in Ecuador, Peru was in 4 th place, in IOM, 2007 in Portugal stayed at 3, last year in the IOM held in Brazil stayed at 2, and this year we got the first place.
Individually, the Peruvian students won two gold medals and two silver:
Julián Mejía (Silver Medal)
Amilcar Velez (Silver Medal)
Jesus Ramos (Gold Medal) Percy
War (Gold Medal)
was very gratifying for me to be part of this delegation at this Olympiad very well organized by the Mexicans, who were always very kind and hospitable.
